Full-Time and PRN Registered Nurses Needed

Program Overview

Located in beautiful east Tennessee north of Knoxville, Norris Academy is a residential treatment facility for children and youth ages 5 to 21 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.   Norris Academy has 31 licensed beds and serves youth from Tennessee as well as several other states.  The Autism Spectrum/Neuro-developmental Disorders Residential Treatment Program at Norris Academy is medically and clinically supervised by a Licensed, Board-Certified Psychiatrist who serves as the Medical Director of the program.  Each shift is staffed with a Registered Nurse 24-hours a day.

Position Overview

Norris Academy is seeking both full-time and PRN Registered Nurses with flexible availability to provide direct patient care and management of youth as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. 

 

Duties Include:

• Provides medical management and assessment as prescribed by a physician. 
• Provides safety and crisis management for student population. 
• Administers medication as prescribed by the physician. 
• Completes nursing assessments/evaluations on all patients.

 

Work Schedules Available:
PRN/As Needed RN’s needed for all shifts.

Full-Time RN needed for 3rd Shift – 7:45 PM to 8:15 AM.

Job Requirements

• This position requires a graduate from an accredited RN program.
• The candidate must possess a valid unrestricted Registered Nursing License issued by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing.
• Minimum of six months to one year mental health nursing experience with a child/youth population is preferred.
• Valid TN driver’s license with good driving history.
• Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention with students.
• Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side effects. 
• Ability to safely implement special treatment procedures. 
• Skill in developing therapeutic relationships with students and their families. 
• Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
• Phlebotomy skills and ability to process lab requisitions.
