Position Details:

Location: Memphis, TN

Job Title: Mainframe Console Operators

Duration: 6 Months + High possibility extension

 

Shift:

• Resources work on rotation to provide 24 by 7 support.

 

Job Description:

• Responsible for mainframe operating computer, computer-related hardware and other operations area equipment. Performs support activities in computer operations

• Monitors and controls VM and VSE computer consoles to process and complete jobs

• Investigates error conditions in computer processing, equipment malfunction and/or network (on-line) performance in order to determine and/or apply the required corrective procedure or action

• Manages tape backup and rotate tapes

• Perform central print functions

• Maintains the physical inventory of computer operations supplies in a designated storage area and keeps the various operations areas stocked with the supplies necessary for daily production

• Sets up, prepares, operates and performs preventive maintenance tasks on tape drives, disk units, printers, postage meters and similar devices

• Controls and monitors the on-line network from the central network control center

• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Previous experience with mainframe consoles is preferred

• Previous operations experience required

• Experience with VM/VSE consoles is a plus

• This position is in a 24/7 environment so candidates will need to have schedule flexibility on an as needed basis
