Prescription Management Specialist Level 2 at Memphis

Job Description

Schedule: 12:30p - 9p, M-F, EST

Summary:

An RXMS Certified Specialist exhibits advanced knowledge of our Controlled Substance Prescription process with regards to physician and hospice interaction, as well as the internal handling of our valid and invalid Controlled Substance prescriptions. This individual will be responsible for the following: reconciling controlled substance prescriptions that are faxed or mailed, maintaining prescriber records, and maintaining patient profiles to reflect accurate Controlled Substance prescription information while ensuring standard compliance as required by State and Federal law. They will also manage and coordinate all aspects of the Controlled Substance prescriptions for our hospice clients including, but not limited to, informing hospices and/or doctors of any patient prescription differentials of written or verbal orders to ensure prescriptions are dispensed to hospice patients in a timely, organized manner. Lastly, this individual will provide thorough, detailed responses to all emails inquiries and phone calls regarding a Controlled Substance medication for a patient to ensure timely medication delivery to our patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reconcile incoming Controlled Substance prescriptions, including the processing of faxed and mailed Controlled Substance prescriptions as per SOP

Assist in maintaining prescriber files by updating personal information/preferences as requested

Access and process prescriptions in Fortis

Perform follow-up with hospices/prescribers to clear up any fax related issues or discrepancies

Process daily reports as needed

Respond to all email requests and phone calls regarding Controlled Substance medication inquiries accurately and timely

Manage the Controlled Substance fax folders and make necessary changes to prescription information such as directions, drug and strength

Recognize and interpret hand written and typed information from inbound faxed prescriptions, including ability to read sig codes

Possess a working knowledge of Infinity functionality including: admitting a patient, profiling a prescription, changing a patients status, updating demographic information, tracking FedEx packages, documenting notes, requesting orders once valid Controlled Substance prescriptions are received and processing refills

Establish a patient medication list by entering new medications into work buckets for pharmacist review

Transition computerized inbound Controlled Substance faxes from Waiting for Authorization to Hard Copy of File status

Complete incoming tasks as assigned by the RXMS Supervisor or Team Leader

Meet and maintain call quality scores, productivity and quality requirements

Utilize Zetafax to refax prescriptions to prescribers as needed

Maintain and strengthen a working relationship with both internal and external clients

Perform all other duties/projects as assigned by the RXMS Supervisor or Team Leader

Qualifications:

Strong organizational, prioritization and communication skills

Use of thorough investigative techniques and follow-ups sills to analyze an prioritize problem solving

Team player

Detail oriented with ability to work independently

Ability to understand the importance of and respect confidentiality of all patient information

Professional demeanor

Ability to multi-task

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent customer services and telephone skills

Problem-solving skills and ability to follow through on assigned tasks

Education and/or Experience:

High-School diploma required

1 year relevant Pharmacy Technician experience

Customer service experienced preferred

Community pharmacy experience preferred

Familiarity with Medication Use Guidelines (MUGs) (internal candidates)

Computer Skills:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Proficient in Infinity, Fortis and Zetafax systems (internal candidates)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

CPhT required OR relevant pharmacy experience with requirement to obtain CPhT within 1 year of hire
