Purchasing Coordinator at Memphis

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:  
Under moderate supervision, this position is responsible for purchasing services, maintenance, repair and operational expense items for Power Transformer Division (PTD). In addition, will maintain change management reports through Syteline and provide purchase order support. 

Tasks Performed:
Process accounts payable information for management approval and timely payment of invoices. Work with multiple departments to coordinate the procurement of services and non-bill of material related items for plant purchases. Work with engineering to coordinate purchase changes related to engineering change requests and engineering change notices. Communicate with suppliers to coordinate the expediting of orders and track late deliveries. Review requisitions and purchase orders for accuracy and conformance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Maintain documentation and verify accuracy of data, if required investigate causes for discrepancies or inaccuracies and make corrections. 

Essential Functions:
Run, merge and analyze data from Syteline reports. Enter and update purchase orders into the business system. Support and assist the Purchasing Manager and the Purchasing team as needed. Provide back up to the Purchasing Assistant. Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Manufacturing Department by conducting business with other MEPPI departments and outside contacts in a timely and cooperative manner

Job Requirements

Minimum Physical Requirements:
Ability to use office equipment, such as: PC, photocopier, fax machine, etc. Ability to analyze data and implement changes in MRP/ERP system. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent tasks and priorities. Ability to communicate and negotiate with suppliers. Ability to analyze data.

Desired Education:
Associates degree in Business or other related discipline plus a minimum of two years purchasing or procurement experience, or equivalent education and experience. Advanced computer skills, emphasizing MS Office products and MRP/ERP systems. Advanced organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills.
