Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is a non-profit organization dedicated to our mission of selling donated goods to provide employment and training opportunities for people who have disabilities and others who have trouble finding and keeping jobs. The Human Resources Department services over 1,400 employees in Tennessee. We have an outstanding opportunity for a Human Resources Consultant to join the Goodwill team.Responsibilities
o Responsible for employee relations, leaves of absence and Workers compensation functions.
o Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, tools, etc., and consult with managers strategically regarding employee issues to achieve the appropriate resolution.
o Provide policy interpretation and guidance to management and employees, including assisting customers as needed with regard to answering benefit or employment-related questions.
o Investigate employee complaints timely and thoroughly from incident reports through the final disposition, including partnering with management to facilitate complaint resolution and maintaining proper documentation.
o Prepare for and represent Goodwill at unemployment hearings to effectively defend the companys business decisions and provides assistance in preparing statements related to EEOC/THRC charges and mediation.
o Guide managers through the termination approval process for involuntary terminations ensuring consistency and appropriate documentation.
o Facilitate New Hire Orientation and complete projects and HRIS reports as assigned.
Job Requirements
Requirements
o Bachelors degree in organizational development, industrial psychology, HR, business or other related area
o Minimum of one year generalist experience in HR. Related internships will be considered such as HR, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Business
o Superior oral and written skills, including the ability to influence others
o Strong presentation skills, including the ability to effectively represent the company to others
o Ability to resolve issues successfully when handling situations that are not clearly defined and require sound judgment and decision-making
o Knowledgeable of federal, local, and state employment laws
o Ability to understand, communicate, comply with, and administer policies and procedures
