Test Administrator at Knoxville

JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:
Administer the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Enlistment Test Session to determine individual qualifications for enlistment into military service either in written form or via computer. Administers test sessions at high schools and other educational institutions.

Other Advantages:

Employee conducts written examinations and controls test materials for a wide variety of examinations, and conducts written examinations and maintains permanent control of test material for Enlistment and student testing.

 

This position does not provide guaranteed work hours each week, and work will be assigned on an intermittent "as needed basis". This position will NOT lead to a full-time position.

 

  • Intermittent employees are not eligible for benefits.
  • Relocation expenses will not be paid.
  • Travel is required to various testing sites, personally owned vehicles are required to be used, and travel reimbursement is authorized.

      • Administer written tests in the local commuting area of this announcement and up to a 100 miles radius when necessary, using own vehicle to transport test material.
      • Maintain security and inventory of test materials.
      • Must reside within the local commuting area or travel to the commuting area at own expense.
      • Require early morning travel and extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting. 
      • Some work may be performed from your residence prior to arriving at the test site.
      • Must be able to carry 1 to 5 cases of test materials each weighing an average of 10 to 35 pounds to and from examination locations, phones, greeting visitors and filling.

      General experience: To Qualify applicants must possess one year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office , or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Test administrator. Examples of qualifying general experience include Conduct specified aptitude examination sessions ranging in the size from 1 to 40 applicants.  Pick up and return controlled test material.  Answering phones, greeting visitors and filing test material.

      You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

      • Knowledge of Security procedures and guidelines.
      • Knowledge of Clerical procedures.
      • Skill using Office Automation systems.
      • Ability to Communicate Orally.


      Education Substitution:

      Applicants may also qualify based on education or a combination of education and general experience.

      Combination of Experience and Education:  Must have a combination of undergraduate education and experience as described above.  If you answered "Yes" to this question, you must submit transcripts with your package.

      Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

      You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

      One year trial/probationary period may be required.

      Conditions of Employment:

      • SECURITY INFORMATION: Because the positions are subject to working with minors, it is a Public Trust position, requiring Criminal History Repository checks for each state where the selectees have resided for the past five years prior to appointment to the Testing Administrator position.

      Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP).  The Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.  If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if:  1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility, 2) you apply under the instructions in this announcement, and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. Well-qualified is defined as meeting all of the minimum qualification standards and eligibility requirements as well as possessing skills that clearly exceed the minimum qualification requirements for the position.
