Manager Customer Research & Insights at Memphis

The Manager of Customer Research and Insights is responsible for providing overall management of custom research projects, ranging from research design through the final report, managing research vendors that supply custom and syndicated data, and extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data from primary and secondary/syndicated data sources. Primary research responsibilities will be for United States research, with secondary responsibility for non-United States research.

What will I be doing?

The Manager of Customer Research and Insights will research and help to identify business opportunities for Hilton Worldwide and reports findings and conclusions to the internal corporate clients. The Team Member will manage ad-hoc custom research projects for Hilton Worldwide, both qualitative and quantitative and for all brands in the Hilton Worldwide portfolio. One will assist in implementing plans for identified business opportunities for research.


The other key priorities are listed below:




  • Establish priorities and delegate work to team members accordingly, while ensuring optimal allocation of resources



  • Work with key stakeholders and departments (key corporate partners such as IT, Customer Marketing, Epsilon, and Medallia, as well as corporate clients, including executive management, brand teams, and internal support departments), structuring the resources and activities of the department/project so objectives are accomplished



  • Disseminate, organize and communicate regarding assignments and projects within the department/project team



  • Evaluate and streamline business processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the department



  • Adhere to established methods/protocols for customer research



  • Complete ad-hoc custom research projects as requested by management, utilizing existing information in previous research projects, other internal research sources, and external sources



  • Implement and manage departmental processes and procedures to ensure strategies and directives of department are carried out and in accordance with department and company objectives



  • Provide direction and directives to the departmental team members in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities and achieving management objectives



  • Communicate important and necessary information to team members via memos, reports and phone calls



  • Influence department team members and key contacts in cross functional areas to accomplish the organizations mission, goals, and objectives through motivation, communication, group dynamics, and leadership



  • Conduct effective management of third party partnerships; identify primary vendors; negotiate and monitor quality and cost of services



  • Establish, maintain, and leverage effective partnerships with third party partners, internal corporate clients, internal support departments, internal and external research and guest database partners, and fellow department team members



  • Inform department management of departments progress and advises them on key issues to help the decision making process

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.




  • BA/BS Bachelor Degree



  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Market Research.



  • Ability to travel on regular basis, overnight as needed



  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook



  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed



  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience


It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:




  • Advanced degree in the social sciences/consumer behavior/marketing with quantitative/qualitative research emphasis



  • Optimum mix of work experience would result in five (5) or more years of experience in quantitative and/or qualitative research management roles



  • Supervisory experience advantageous



  • In depth knowledge of SPSS, SALT, Smith Travel Research data, and internal corporate data systems



  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience



  • Minimum of two (2) years of managerial experience
