International Tax Supervisor at Memphis

The Tax Supervisor of International Tax Reporting will be responsible for reviewing and preparing US GAAP financial accounting and reporting requirements, internal and external, for non-US Income Taxes.

What will I be doing?

The Tax Supervisor of International Tax Reporting must demonstrate knowledge of GAAP rules governing accounting of Income Taxes as provided for under ASC 740 and FIN 48, and must be knowledgeable of GAAP accounting standards and US Corporate Tax principles. The Team Member will work with a team of tax professionals in the US and work with tax professionals in foreign jurisdictions to complete the financial reporting tasks required in the job function. The Tax Supervisor must be interdependent with GAAP tax accounting and tax compliance whereby a significant portion of the tax accounting work performed will serve to support and facilitate the compliance process and be deeply involved in the compliance process outside of the actual GAAP tax accounting tasks. The Team Member will support the VP of Tax Compliance and Planning in other tax compliance matters and assist with achieving timely and accurate department filing and reporting obligations.


Other key priorities are listed below:




  • Assist in the documentation of tax accounting processes consistent with the application of ASC 740 and other applicable guidance




  • Assist with research for new transactions, understand the Company's planned position for income tax purposes, and account for and document such tax positions consistent with GAAP




  • Follow all tax law changes across non-US jurisdictions determine and analyze impact to US GAAP tax accounting positions




  • Prepare and review GAAP, lender, internal financial reporting matters for the company specific to accounting for non-US income taxes as assigned




  • Liaise with corporate accounting to understand the company's various reporting obligations to determine tax accounting reporting obligations




  • Liaise with foreign offices and foreign hotel properties to obtain information required for financial reporting purposes




  • Streamline business process to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the department




  • Collaborate with Reporting and Compliance personnel to coordinate and streamline business processes




  • Assist with managing monthly international accounting reporting processes, monthly/quarterly/annual foreign provision processes, preparation and review of applicable financial statement tax footnotes, and preparation and review of the applicable effectiv

    • Experience with US GAAP rules



    • Ability to interpret the companys books and records and transactional accounting



    • Understanding of the Internal Revenue Code and demonstrate the ability to apply to the companys US GAAP financials



    • Ability to implement and manage work plans to completion



    • Ability to initiate and direct collaborative efforts of multiple teams throughout the organization



    • Ability to handle absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information



    • Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for team to fulfil responsibilities in keeping with core strategic goals



    • Strong problem solving skills, and ability to identify and prevent potential problems



    • Ability to advocate and implement professional development for self, direct reports, and others



    • Minimum of three (3) years of related professional experience



    • Tax work flow supervisory experience


    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a corporate tax role

    • BS/BA Bachelors Degree

    It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:




    • MS/MA Master"-"*s Degree



    • Minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience



    • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience



    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification
