Workers Compensation SpecialistJob Summary
The Workers Compensation Specialist provides support in the administration of Brookdale Senior Livings workers compensation program. They will work in a team environment, interacting with adjusters, providers, residence management, regional HR representatives and brokers as necessary.
Essential Functions
* Review all reported claims via on-line claims system provided by third party administrator and/or carrier on a daily basis.
* Work directly with communities to review facts, identify red flags, and/or issues of concern.
* Assist community management with accident investigation and claim reporting.
* Alert management team to existence of claim, per guidelines.
* Identify potential high value claims or potential fraud claims and mark pending for follow-up and future strategy development.
* Provide direction and training to community management on claims management issues.
* Follow up with adjuster, and assist community management in following up to ensure claims are aggressively managed by third party administrator.
* Perform wage verification calculations.
* Perform file audits and periodic individual reviews of high value claims to ensure claim handling guidelines and best practices are adhered to.
* Work with Manager, Workers Compensation and HR team to ensure return to work program is utilized.
* Work with Manager and Workers Compensation team cross functionally on workload allocation based on claim case load and complexity.
* Work with Communities to develop safety programs.
Candidate Qualifications
* Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
*3-5 years of previous Workers Compensation or 3rd Party Adjuster experience required.
* Strong computer operating skills and MS Office experience required.
* Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required.
