General Job Description: Reporting to the EHD Site Leader (SL) the Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the EHD Technologies Inspection team assigned to the shift of responsibility.
Reporting to the EHD Site Leader the Shift Leader is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the EHD Technologies Inspection team on all shifts. The EHD Technologies team consists of the Quality Inspectors and sometimes Data Administrator. The EHD Quality Inspection team performs product inspection, sorting, containment, verification, and auditing of suspect, nonconforming, and/or defective parts, part subassemblies, and part assemblies.
The Shift Leader is a “working leader” and is a “billable” position. This means the Shift Leader is actively involved in the work processes, but is also manager of, and the key point of contact for, all Shift Leaders and Quality Inspectors working on related projects.
The Shift Leader will serve as a key point of contact for EHD associates and management, customer management, and staffing agencies. The Shift Leader must be prepared at all times to provide the customer and the EHD QM with a status update on the project(s).
The Shift Leader provides instructions and assignments to the EHD Quality Inspectors (QI) assigned to the shift and/or project. The Shift Leader will follow all applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes of EHD and the customer site and/or work site.If performing rework, Shift Leader will ensure that all documented rework processes and procedures are followed. The Shift Leader monitors the rework to ensure compliance with documented processes and procedures.
The Shift Leader is responsible for ensuring compliance to all applicable quality processes and procedures and responsible for accurately completing all documentation.
The Shift Leader may at times be required to create or modify work instructions. The Shift Leader may at times be required to discuss with the customer the requirements of the project and communicate the requirements to the QIs.
The Shift Leader will regularly evaluate Quality Inspector performance based on standard performance criteria.
The Shift Leader will be required to keep accurate records. This includes, but is not limited to, employee timesheets, inspection data reports, financial records, and other documents. These records will be submitted in a timely manner as required.
The Shift Leader will ensure that all Quality Inspectors are dressed properly, have the correct Personal Protective Equipment, are present on the project site on time, and are working to the established productivity and quality standards. The Shift Leader will communicate job performance issues with the Site Leaders of the issue and the action taken.

Job Requirements
Key Job Elements and Responsibilities:
- Follows all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
- Coordinates with all parties to establish work schedules and project assignments.
- Ensures that shift transitions are smooth and that shift leaders are cooperating and communicating effectively during the transition period. The SL must close out all open issues and finalize the daily reports prior to leaving.
- Will frequently work more than 10 hours per day (50 hours per week) as dictated by production requirements, quality issues, documentation tasks, and customer demands.
- Understands, and is capable of performing all aspects of containment, audit, inspection, sort, and rework.
- Ensures that proper work instructions, methods, and procedures are in place for each project.
- Safely utilizes various hand tools, machines, and equipment.
- Complies with all applicable EHD and customer procedures and documentation.
- Accurately collects and reports data.
- Completes time reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Supervises the work performed by Quality Inspectors.
- Addresses job performance issues including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, quality of work, quantity of work, compliance to standard operating policies, etc.
- Keeps the Site Leader informed of any problems, issues, and/or concerns. Escalates, when necessary, critical issues to EHD’s senior management.

Physical REquirements:
- Work is typically performed in manufacturing plants and warehouses. Work may also be performed outside. Depending on the work location, the environmental temperatures may range from very hot (>100 degrees) to very cold (<32 degrees).
- Depending on the work site, may be exposed to industrial hazards such as machinery, material handling equipment, noise, chemicals, etc. All job site safety rules, policies, and procedures are to be followed at all times.
- Depending on the project, the working conditions may require long periods of physical exertion that includes frequent standing, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting, carrying, etc.
- Due to the inspection requirements, must have good eyesight (corrective lenses are acceptable) and the ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Based on inspection requirements, may be required to pass a standardized color acuity test to verify the ability to distinguish subtle differences in colors and hues.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalency (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree or Vocational Training (desired but not required)
- Prior manufacturing or inspection experience (Preferred)
- Prior leadership (supervision, management) experience (Preferred)
- One year minimum experience in manufacturing and/or quality (Preferred)
- Computer skills using MS Office
- Must provide documented work history, education, and reference list.
- Background checks and/or drug tests may be required based on work site and/or customer requirements.
