Abednego Environmental Services LLC, a Tier 1 automotive supplier, is searching for a qualified candidate to work rotating schedules at the VW plant in Chattanooga, TN. Ideal candidate for the technician position will have some college with a focus in engineering, environmental or other science related fields. Strong consideration given to candidates with hands on experience in spray booth design, booth air flow balance, booth water balance, temperature and humidity requirements and air quality.

 Some duties that the Quality Engineer will perform on a daily basis include:

• Perform dry film thickness readings on E-coated body, Minimum 1 time per shift.
• Perform profilometer readings on Body In White at Body Shop - minimum 1 time per day
• Perform profilometer readings on E-Coated body – minimum 1 time per shift
• Perform calibration of all quality measurement  instruments used by VW and Axalta team members as required (lab measuring)
• Upload all data obtained with measurement equipment using PC and submit to Site Manager 
• Obtain color and structure readings on coated bodies, (perform lab audit inspections as requested)
• Attend and participate in Harmony and Color Match meetings
• Complete daily activity readings log for all BIW (Body In White), E-Coated, painted bodies and any special readings
• Report any and all concerns or issues to Site Manager
• Assist Site Manager as required to perform quality tasks requested by Volkswagen GoA and Axalta
• Assist dirt team to obtain, examine and report foreign material findings on vehicle bodies
• Assist Volkswagen team members with trials as requested
• Support Axalta technicians with testing as required
• Provide assistance in departments within Abednego that may require support

Job Requirements

• At least a two year post secondary diploma in engineering, chemistry or environmental sciences or comparable work experience. A four year degree preferred.
• Experience in electrical, mechanical and fluid dynamics a plus
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to perform mathematical computations 
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel

 

  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs
• Access and inspect equipment as needed
• Wear a respirator under certain conditions
• Work at heights under certain condition
