We are seeking a Category Manager to join our Procurement team. This position is responsible for leading the efforts of the business to manage indirect spend and capital equipment expenditures throughout the company. This role reports to the Director of Procurement.
Function and Scope:
Manages procurement activities for Indirect items and Capital Equipment expenditures to achieve the highest value at the lowest long term cost. Develops sourcing strategies, performs supply market analysis, manages supplier relationships and performance, leads strategic sourcing teams, evaluates supplier proposals and negotiates contract terms.
Principal Responsibilities:
Work with facilities and department engineers/managers on Capital Equipment purchases (CAPEX) by identifying suppliers, negotiating commercial terms, outlining specifications and expectations, and maximizing value for the Company.Required Skills & Competencies:
Broad understanding of operational needs in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in the paper making industry. Proven leadership, problem solving and change management skills. General understanding of supplier markets and ability to perform market analysis. Project Management experience and knowledge of account processes, ERP systems, and supply logistics.Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or related field required. CPM, CPSM and or MBA degree preferred.Disclaimer

At least 4 years procurement/purchasing and /or supply chain equivalent experience in a manufacturing company or related industry.
Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and analytical skills.
Demonstrated supplier management and negotiation skills. Ability to identify both required & desired outcomes from a meeting or situation, and be comfortable entering into difficult discussions/situations with suppliers or stakeholders. Show tenacity & initiative.
Demonstrated ability to comfortably and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. This means the ability to develop agendas, lead meetings as a facilitator, and document & publish critical results.
Persuasiveness Utilize interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance. Must have the ability to persuade stakeholders internally and suppliers externally.
Demonstrated ability to easily interface with plant personnel, build and lead teams, manage projects and drive cost and process improvement.
Analytical Skills Must be able to relate & compare, securing relevant information and identifying key issues. This includes seeking and organizing information, and conducting relevant data analysis.
Financial & Qualitative Acumen Demonstrate an understanding of the use, interpretation and impact of key quantitative and financial measures.
Establish procurement strategies for indirect categories such as office supplies, office print management, travel, fleet vehicles, small parcel shipping, facilities management and various SG&A related programs.
Respond to internal and supplier inquiries, establish and review key performance metrics, develop project plans, compile management reports, develop and negotiate contracts, and approve appropriate requisitions.
Additional Responsibilities:
Coordinate supplier selection and establish appropriate supplier performance metrics.
Work collaboratively with internal departments in the determination of specifications and negotiation of contracts and provide comparisons of vendor offerings to support sourcing decisions.
Prepare, maintain and review purchasing files and records, price lists, the status of contracts.
