Director, Data Services - Data Governance at Nashville

The Director of Data Services serves as an information domain expert and liaison to internal business groups. Leads the implementation and maintenance of enterprise level services related to the management of structured data and unstructured content including, but not limited to, the creation of information models, common business vocabularies (data models, schemas, taxonomies, ontology), enterprise master data and metadata frameworks and reusable processes for managing and migrating structured data and unstructured content to more managed environments. Provides team management and/or leadership as requested to move the Data Services teams forward spanning the I.T. representation of Data Governance, Business Intelligence, and Business Analytics.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB



Essential Functions:


Lead as directed the following groups: BI Competency Center, Data Governance, Data Architecture, Data Integration, Database Administration, Packaged Software Support, Legacy Data Support.
  • Become an essential resource as directed to the Data Governance to advance the knowledge of business terms and uses through the entire enterprise
  • Become an essential member of the I.T. Management staff, involved in resource planning, management structure, and developing the I.T. strategy.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies and technology service providers that will improve the business.
  • Advise business partners on technology alternatives and technology implications of business directions.
  • Consult and advise business and technology subject-matter experts, ultimately translating business requirements into technology solution approaches.
  • Lead and/or oversee the design and modeling of tactical solutions delivery and verify alignment of physical implementations to architecture.
  • Develop and maintain the Meta Data Repository standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Promote the use of a shared infrastructure and application/services roadmap to reduce costs and improve information flows.
  • Participate as a member of various design review boards as necessary to comply with enterprise architecture framework and data governance policies.





Job Requirements




Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience: 7 years related Data Services or equivalent experience.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to design and maintain the data integration platform and framework in support of the Corporate Information Life Cycle Management framework
  • Create processes for capturing and defining information standards and Meta Data standards
  • Perform impact analysis on existing products, applications, and services during development and maintenance projects
  • Liaise with the vendor and external support on issues such as upgrades, technical problems and solutions
  • Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate ISG standards to meet business requirements
  • Provide all aspects of technical and consultative support of the Production environment (database and data integration and business glossary)
  • Expertise in developing and maintaining techniques to improve data quality across the enterprise
  • Experience designing, integrating, and managing complex technical solutions
  • Strong leadership skills with business and technical groups
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
