Job Description
Position Summary:Responsible for ensuring warehouse vendors are paid accurately, and timely; resulting in proper valuation of inventory and/or Cost of Goods Sold on the financial statements. Candidate should possess an in-depth knowledge of accounting best practices with a thorough understanding of Kroger accounting. Must have strong analytical skills and be efficient in the day-to-day accounting procedures and transactions. Possess strong Leadership skills and able to troubleshoot and be proactive in their thinking. Show a strong initiative to continue learning and adapt to technology/department changes or procedures. Candidate must also have the ability to supervise the daily operations in the department.
· Perform research in AS400, CICS, PCICS50, Vendor Book, and KAS to ensure merchandise charges and credits are properly reflected on the financials; and vendors paid accurately and timely.
· Assist in training and development of current and new employees with the team
· Coordinate and monitor the daily workflow of the department
· Develop a working relationship with Category Managers, Buyers, and Distribution Center personnel; follow up promptly with all their requests
· Provide all internal and external Kroger customers high quality customer service
- Communicate with Coordinator, Specialist, Manager, and/or Assistant Controller on unresolved issues
- Have the ability to audit behind the team and provide feedback on those audits to the Coordinator, Specialist, and direct reports.
· Balance any assigned ledger accounts
· Assist in appraising productivity, auditing the accuracy and measuring the employee’s potential as it relates to the section and the company
- Assist in maintaining and updating all job descriptions within the section
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations
· Promote teamwork and be available to provide guidance to any associate in the area that needs assistance
· Able to assist with associate development
· Model prompt and reliable attendance. Set the example of positive and professional communication within the department
- Must be able to communicate and work professionally with internal and external auditors
- Any other duties as assigned by specialist, manager, or controller.
- Share knowledge and actively participate in expressing ideas in a team setting to help identify/resolve inefficiencies within the department
Minimum Position Qualifications:
· Good working knowledge of Kroger Accounting System
· Self-starter, decision making skills, promotes positive teamwork
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Business Objects
· Strong Analytical and Math Skills
· Detail oriented and accurate on a consistent basis
· Ability to become subject matter expert in the department
· Strong Accounting skills and General ledger balancing
· Broad knowledge of Merchandising for Warehouse and Store Inventories
· Broad knowledge of Demand Tec/Trade point, General Billing, and Vendor Payments
· Ability to prioritize with good follow through
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
· Ability to multitask
· Outstanding Organizational and Interpersonal Skills
· Desire to make improvements and to streamline current processes
· Able to function under the pressure of meeting deadlines
