Job Description

Superintendent of Process and Facility Maintenance

  • Plans, coordinates and manages the maintenance, construction, installation and improvement of plant equipment, buildings, facilities and grounds. Directs maintenance managers, supervisors, leads, planners, technicians and mechanics as required.
  • Assures equipment reliability and critical spare availability. Assures proper maintenance programs both planned and unplanned. Assures that maintenance mechanics, electricians and technicians have the proper skill sets and training for their required tasks. Assures a safe work environment for his employees and adherence to all safety rules and regulations. Assures compliance with all OSHA regulations.
  • Inspects plant buildings and facilities to assure compliance with all state, federal and DoD requirements. Plans, budgets, and schedules facilities modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts, and contracts for construction and equipment upgrades. Performs audits to support facility planning.
  • Develops long range plans, conceptual designs and capital spending requirements for facilities and equipment. Formulates and coordinates program specifications, requirements for proposals and contracts, and associated documents. Acts as liaison to public utility, environmental, and energy agencies. Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications. Reviews real estate contracts for compliance with government specifications and suitability for occupancy.
  • Oversees the coordination of building space allocation, layout, and communication services. Oversees and directs maintenance personnel and workers engaged in equipment installation, facilities equipment repair, and preventive maintenance.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises managers, supervisors and planners in the Maintenance Department.
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, directing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance if required.
  • Must be willing to work in an environment that requires a Safety First" attitude. Employee must be willing to obey all Safety, Health & Environmental rules/regulations prescribed by regulatory agencies that are incorporated into company policy.
  • Employee must report any unsafe acts or conditions immediately to their supervision and participate in a team hazard to produce a work place that is free from hazards and personal injury.
  • Must be able to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least 10 years related maintenance managerial experience and/or training. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
