Job Requirements

Job Title: Controls Manager / Engineer (multiple openings with several of our clients)

POSITION SUMMARY: This position participates in engineering, designing and troubleshooting
the electrical portion of conveyor systems, sortation systems and other associated equipment.
This position will ensure that the design criteria meets the objectives which relate to quality, cost,
manufacturing, service, and schedule. The selected individuals will participate in installation, start up and
commissioning of control systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Electrical controls of conveyor systems, sortation systems and associated equipment.
2. Selection and locating of sensors, actuators and other devices.
3. Selection and sizing of motor starters and variable frequency drives for motor applications.
4. Creation of drawing packages; includes schematic panel layouts, device layouts, bills of
material, power wiring drawings, and safety circuits.
5. Develop and maintain a progress schedule for each project.
6. Create and maintain an engineering file for each project.
7. Travel to customer facilities for installation and start-up of the electrical portion of the
projects.
8. Timely and accurate completion of field service reports and other necessary documents to
generate billing.
9. Work under the supervision of a project manager or executives on larger projects.
10. Work in a team environment to improve products and processes.
11. Work with Account Managers and Mechanical Engineers to maximize performance and
minimize cost for integrating mechanical and controls design on each project.
12. Create, modify and/or troubleshoot PLC’s, PC and servo’s programs.
13. Programs or willingness to learn Scanner and Vision systems
14. Insure the timely release of complete and accurate work.
15. Exercise effective Project Engineering procedures to support and enhance the work in
process of the organization.
16. Monitor design performance with regard to quality, cost effectiveness, and timeliness.
17. Provide assistance in training new engineering personnel.
18. Provide assistance in establishing engineering specifications.
19. Create and maintain engineering standards and procedures.
20. Generate, complete and control change orders as required.
21. Must be willing to travel and performs other duties as required.

22. Participate in new prospective client meetings.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Solid Works.
2. Bachelor of Science degree or any combination of education and experience in lieu of a
degree. Desired 2-5+ years related Material Handling Controls Engineering experience
3. Knowledge of PLC’s, HMI’s and servo’s - Allen Bradley, Modicon, Siemens, Wonderware,
etc.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as, excellent interpersonal skills are an
essential attribute for this position.
5. Project management skills. Able to support multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Familiarity with basic estimating/accounting principles
7. Understanding and past experience work with 24 Volt Motor Driven Roller (MDR) technology.
