Job Description
Basic Function:Primary responsibility of an Automation Technician is to troubleshoot and repair equipment that utilizes PLC and CNC controls within the facility. This position also requires the technician to create programs specify equipment requirements and complete installations to improve or create new equipment. Much of this work will be done outside of the maintenance department under the direction of Engineering so a team player is desired. Must be multi-crafted and have fair amount of industrial electrical knowledge and some mechanical abilities.
Troubleshoot and modify PLC programs to aid in production repairs and improvements. Troubleshoot and diagnose motion control devices such as servo drives and VFD-s to aid in repairs. Create and modify electrical prints and ladder diagrams to maintain current documentation of equipment modifications. Responsible for the back-up of PLC and CNC machine files to ensure a component failure does not cause loss of data that cannot be recovered. Work with Engineering to specify and install new equipment and upgrade older equipment. Diagnose and repair electrical controls as needed within the facility. Provide back-up mechanical assistance when needed due to scheduling conflicts or workloads within the department.
Someone with training courses in this field: Allen Bradley PLC programming, Siemens PLC programming, Fanuc and Mitsubishi control experience.
Requirements: Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with heavy emphasis on CNC and automated equipment. General electrical and electrical safety knowledge with some mechanical experience.
