Web Developer at Knoxville

Job Description:

The Web Applications Developer is responsible for developing web-based applications to meet the emerging e-commerce needs of the company. Actively participate in a small, self-directing team of developers, designers, and internet marketing specialists to create a great experience for visitors to our various websites.

Responsibilities:

• Build new systems using PHP, JavaScript, SQL and complementary technologies as needed
• Develop new applications and provide enhancements to existing products
• Utilize existing company code libraries and frameworks where applicable
• Be self-directing in managing personal backlog workload
• Research and recommend new technologies to enhance the user experience
• Independently design, code, and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes
• Architect and implement code that will 1) meet current and future needs, 2) perform well under load, and 3) be easy to maintain.

Requirements:

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of web development experience
• Strong experience with client-side scripting languages and technologies such as
• JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery (or similar), CSS/3, HTML5, etc.
• Experience with MySQL and relational database design and normalization
• Knowledge of and experience with email design best practices
• Recognition and experience implementing UI/ UE best practices
• Self-directing with a strong work ethic
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and computer science principles
• Strong desire and ability to continually learn and maintain a high level of expertise in a field that is constantly changing and evolving.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of SEO best practices
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external team members.
• Must be able to both focus on the big-picture objectives and be detail oriented.
• Timely completion of development tasks and projects that meet objectives
• Development of stable, well-design systems
• Reports to Director E-commerce and Web Development.
• Works directly with all SBUs, VBUs, and SSUs.
• Works with the E-commerce Team and IT to achieve objectives.
• Works with outside vendors as applicable.
