Job Description
This position is responsible for championing the consistent manufacturing of rubber compounds to design targets through the continued improvement of Bridgestone tire plant rubber mixing and laboratory processes. This teammate will implement “best practice" by appropriately modifying corporate standard practice.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop IPs and IIP’S for major projects involving Inter-departmental activity and /or project teams.
- Establish required priority for development laboratory/ tire testing for Material Process Control projects.
- Determine if plant(s) materials control programs meet quality objectives; recommend countermeasures and improvements.
- Initiate lab and capability studies to assist plants in problem solving and appropriate follow-up activity.
- Recommend improvements in our manufacturing quality assurance systems to minimize misproductions.
- Issue technical reports on lab and tire test projects.
- Decide when a quality related policy or standard practice change is required and initiate action to issue.
- Drives corporate plant in-process testing database and related computer applications- directs identification and deployment of application enhancements to meet internal customer needs.
- Establishes and maintains closed loop quality assurance programs for monitoring in-process property test results.
- Analyzes plant Quality Index Report data to identify areas of interest for review with executive management.
- Drives plant Technical Service, plant Quality Assurance and Compound Development to develop countermeasures for material quality concerns and improvements to material manufacturing processes.
- Leads closure of planned countermeasures and improvements through follow up activity with Technical Service and Quality Assurance.
- Develops mid-term plans for corporate Measurement System Analyses (MSAs) as relevant to current plant and corporate needs.
- Conducts identified system wide MSAs between all BFNT and BFLA tire plant and ATC laboratories.
- Coordinates all aspects of MSA including: acquisition and preparation control materials, required instruction, testing, and collection of test data.
- Analyzes MSA results to identify plants with instruments and/ or testing process which require improvement.
- Uses MSA results to validate plant production in-process test results.
- Implements best practices to improve corporate MSA processes
- Uses plant laboratory MSA results, audit findings and materials process quality indicators to identify priority of instruments and lab processes improvement activity.
- Directly observes laboratory processes to identify gaps to standard methods and practices.
- Develops gap closure plans with plant Tech Service and plant QA.
- Facilitates closure of planned countermeasures and improvements through follow up activity.
- Drive standard practice improvement to incorporate best industry practices.
- Audits plant laboratory, mixing, and extrusion processes as part of Corporate QA Manufacturing Quality Engineering audit teams for adherence to corporate standard practice and ISO/TS-16949 compliance.
- Leads internal interdepartmental corporate ISO/ TS-16949 audits as required.
- Other duties as required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong data analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
