Overall Function

Primary responsibility is to develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.  Meet or exceed performance criteria as established by annual strategic sales plan. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Improving existing operations identifying opportunities for improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery and productivity to reduce production costs and increase efficiency.
• Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
• Establish weld procedures to guide production team relating to specifications/processes.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing principles in existing processes using our internal Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) continuous improvement system.
• Contribute knowledge of manufacturing processes to design of manufacturing activities.
• Assist in the training of production operators on the use of CNC machine control and tools.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, creation of drawings and equipment layouts.
• Manage development of equipment specifications, proposing capital spending, monitoring the equipment purchasing process, and championing equipment installation.
• Perform job breakdown analysis to improve and balance workload, improve quality/consistency, cycle times, etc.
• Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
• Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintain operational equipment by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturers instructions and established procedures; requesting special service by formalization of PM procedures.
• Create and maintain product and process database.
• Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians/operators.

Job Requirements

Required Skills

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 3-5 year experience in Manufacturing / Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9001 knowledge.
• Proficient with AutoCAD.
• Tooling CNC experienced preferred. Looking for candidates that have worked with welding, machining, assembly and CNC machines.
• Solid analytical skills and experience applying problem solving techniques.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office application, including SharePoint.
• Close attention to detail and accuracy and process/systems mindset.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong proven leadership skills.
• Travel 5-10%.
