Safety Manager at Humboldt

SAFETY MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:We are seeking an EHS Professional who is responsible for our overall plant employee Safety. This will include Safety programs, systems, policies, training, Federal and State OSHA Compliance, audits, and more. OurSafety Manager is also responsible for all aspects of Workers Compensation (including claims, coordinating case management, and data entry into claims management system). This person is a very important, key member of our Plant Leadership Team.
CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure day-to-day administration of plant safety rules, policies and procedures, enforcement of OSHA Compliance and other regulations.
  • Organize, develop, implement, and oversee pro-active safety programs, systems, policies, and training.
  • Works closely with Environmental Manager regarding Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Manage the plants workers compensation program
  • Works closely with Corporate Safety Director regarding Plant Safety issues and corporate programs.
  • Complete special projects, duties and assignments, as appropriate.
This position has no direct reports but does have support from our Corporate Safety department, and local management team.

  • Solid, current understanding of Federal and State OSHA and compliance requirements and enforcement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and direct pro-active safety programs.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and a commitment to results.
  • Ability to use innovative approaches and analytical problem-solving skills to resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple and complex projects concurrently.
  • Ability to analyze data and information, and to make effective and timely decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 5 years of increasing safety experience in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and practical application of risk-management techniques
  • Professional EHS experience in a food manufacturing, or other continuous process environment
  • Bachelors degree (or higher) with a preference for Health, Safety discipline
