Controller Trainee (Sr. Staff Accountant)

The Controller Trainee (super strong staff accountant) will be responsible for assisting in the accurate and timely reporting of financial information. You will be involved in all plant accounting activities and the compilation and analysis of production reports and financial statements. You will take primarily accountability for the Commission Checks and General Ledger. You will be provided with training and development with the view to taking on a Controller position within 6-12 months. In this position, you will supervise all market center office personnel including office services, clerical functions, payroll, mail, telephone services and office supply purchases. Initially based in Nashville, promotion to Controller may require relocation to any location in the Southern US region.Essential functions include:
· The preparation of commission checks for Account Executives on a weekly basis.-Accurate and timely reporting and forecasting of financial information.-Prepare appropriate information for presentation at meetings. Research and resolve accounting problems.
-Assure that all company, corporate and normal business and ethical standards are closely adhered to and correct any deviations encountered  and appropriate controls are administered.
-Maintain continuous focus on providing outstanding customer service (both internal and external).-Solicit appropriate expertise of Group Controller, Regional Controller and company staff to assure proper resolution to complex issues.
-Maintain compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws and regulation that affect Market Center operations.-Comply with Federal Regulations and Company safety policies and practices to promote safety awareness in the Market Center.
-Excellent communication skillset and dealing with Vendors, Clients and Senior Management-staff accountants with 3+ years are encourgaged to apply-Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the activities enumerated above.  RequirementsThe successul applicant will ideally currently be employed as a Senior Staff Accountant or similar, will be geograhically mobile, and will possess:
· Bachelors degree, preferably in accounting or financial analysis.
· Two to three years experience in accounting.
· Considerable knowledge of accounting standards, practices and procedures.
· Strong skills in managing daily operations including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit and collection.
· Previous involvement in budgeting, forecasts, controlling costs and maximizing profits, and producing accurate reports.
· Previous work in a plant environment a plus.
· Knowledge of current computer systems and proficiency in Oracle and Excel and spreadsheets essential.
· Strong analytical and process management skills.Compensation available for this position is $45-55k.
