Job Summary
The Clinical Risk Manager is responsible for the risk management function of a multi-service line company that contracts with hospitals and health systems to provide outsourced perioperative clinical services nationwide. The principal responsibilities require the ability to communicate effectively with clinicians and hospital risk managers regarding clinical matters to prospectively identify, investigate and manage clinical exposures through the company’s clinical variance reporting process and develop clinical improvement recommendations in collaboration with the companys medical office.
- Manage clinical staff communications at the hospital level following clinical incidents. Interface with hospital risk managers, physicians and other hospital personnel.
- Review variance reports, obtain more detailed information by record review and interviews and rate risk exposure.
- Analyze findings and develop responsive programs that enhance an organizational culture that supports patient safety.
- Serve as a member of the company’s Performance Improvement Committee with responsibility for preparing the meeting materials, trend reporting, recommending opportunities for improvement, and managing assigned improvement activities.
- Provide clinical assistance and recommendations to medical office as part of the quality assurance and performance improvement function.
- Under the direction of Associate General Counsel, provide clinical review and analysis of medical records as related to current and potential litigation activity and provide other litigation support activities from a clinical perspective.
- Serve as a liaison to insurance carriers.

- Clinical knowledge - Prefer individuals who are knowledgeable of perioperative clinical services.
- Healthcare risk management experience.
- Legal experience preferred.
- Ability to analyze data and present data to all levels within a large organization.
- Service-oriented approach in interactions with all customers, both external and internal.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the company and our customer base.
