Process Engineer, Quality, Process Improvement, SC

CDI is currently recruiting two Process Engineers for our client located in Aiken, SC. These jobs are permanent jobs with excellent company benefits including bonus. Salary range is 50 to 65K.

We are looking for Jr. level Engineers with two to four years of experience.

Job duties will include;

Development and maintenance of process specifications and procedures. Production support and process improvement including safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.

Coordination of process improvement trials, projects, and manufacturing or component development at the plant level.

Job duties will also include;

Quality Improvement (30%)

Optimizes production processes by studying current operating conditions, quality, returns and historical data. Implements processing improvements with direction and supervision from Senior PEs and PE Service Leader.

Ensures corporate standards are followed and issues temporary deviations when necessary. Follows 3M trials involving changes to any production process, method, materials, or machine and documents results.

Assists in the maintenance of plant process and product specifications through the Tire Engineering Specification System (TESS) or the Aiken Compound Formula System.

Production Support (35%)

Provides support to production by attending meetings to review safety, quality, administrative, and waste. Responds to requests from production area for assistance in solving technical machine or process issues. Provides assistance as needed for the startup or modifications of production equipment. Supports efforts to improve and implement bekidou/utilization trends.

Waste Reduction (15%)

Provides waste reduction support to production departments by attending daily production meetings to review waste issues and by assisting in the implementation of countermeasures. Identifies methods to reduce waste and coordinates trials and or training as necessary. Dispositions abnormal components and materials under the direction of Senior PEs and PE Service Leader to minimize waste generation. Coordinates and completes projects to reduce cost as assigned by the PE Service Leader.

Corporate driven projects (20%)

Provides support to Akron Tech Center and Process Engineering Dept trial requests by ordering required raw materials, creating recipes in the specification system, coordinating and scheduling of trial material preparation, and collecting data and samples. Submits all samples and data requested for review.

Work Environment;

This position requires daily interaction with all levels of Production, Maintenance, QA, Engineering, CIM, IE, Production Control, Safety, and HR. Significant interaction with Corporate and Tech Center personnel is also required.

Approximately 50% of time is spent on the production floor or in the lab, 40% working at desk on a computer, and 10% in meetings.

The production floor environment requires working in high temperature, high noise levels (hearing protection required, and around moving equipment and heavy machinery.
