Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Industrial Engineer II position is responsible for performing time studies on the lines to determine bottleneck operations based on customer requirements, listing, and analyzing improvement items per technician, determining waste to reduce/eliminate, determining plan to reduce the bottleneck operation and increase output, calculating standard times for routings per part number, reviewing/improving layouts for most efficient flow and help determine best manning per line for increasing efficiency of line. Position will work with Manufacturing Engineers on line issues to make the manufacturing floor more efficient.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Time study new and existing lines to determine the bottleneck operation and calculate standard time. List all types of waste and develop a plan to eliminate wastes and reduce the bottleneck operation.
  • Keeping all existing routings updated and entering in new routings into the ManMan system.
  • Supporting Manufacturing Engineering on problem areas and determine how to improve the current line with either line balance, eliminate wastes, improve cell layout, etc
  • Participating, supporting, training and being the Industrial Engineer contact for improvement activities.
  • Reviewing building layouts with component line side storage, minimal walking in work cell, improvement ideas for good hand-to-hand product flow and capacity requirements.
  • Developing and implementing process improvements for increasing efficiency for greater production output.
  • Analyzing and improving manufacturing lines by creating more efficient flow by eliminating non-value added operations.
  • Attending PBM meetings, Production meetings, Staff meetings, improvement meetings, and other meetings that pertain to Manufacturing and Engineering.
  • Determining component storage requirements for manufacturing lines with most efficient ergonomic work cell layouts. Detailed spreadsheet on components for each piece/tote/part number, quantity/tote/shift, quantity/day/technician/line requirements, etc... for line side inventory.
  • Communicates frequently with internal and external contacts on various issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required Skills

    SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

    Intermediate to advanced experience (beyond basic data entry) working with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, and other presentation applications and/or software.

    Job Requirements

    The incumbent must:

    • Have a high school diploma or GED.
    • Have a Bachelors degree in related field and generally two to five years of experience in a related field
    -or-

    • Have a Masters Degree and generally two to four years experience in a related field.
    • Certification is required in some areas.
    • Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications.
    • Have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.
    • Be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment tests, including any required drug test.
    • Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.
